Back After Two Months – Pretty Maps

Back After Two Months - Pretty Maps

Whew! These nine weeks sure flew by fast! It’s funny now that I thought I would not have enough stuff to do for five weeks in Scandinavia. I was planning on only doing three weeks there and then a couple of weeks in Berlin and a week in Prague/Budapest. Ha! Turned out I had barely enough time without even contemplating going to Finland. Berlin and Prague will have to wait. But it has been great! It even warmed up nicely while I was in Copenhagen so I was looking forward to some beach time in the Mediterranean with my parents […]

Case of the Mondays #23: Marstrand Castle in Sweden

As promised last week, today’s episode of Case of the Mondays series features a panoramic view of Marstrand Castle and its majestic surroundings as seen while hiking around the Marstrand island. So it’s time to stop whatever you are working on and take a quick break! Open up the full panorama and enjoy! This time you have a little homework – see how many little houses you can spot on the rocks. Ok, now you can pop it open and have fun with it! The weather wasn’t cooperating that day – it was raining buckets in the morning in Gothenburg […]

This, That, and the Rest

This, That, and the Rest

Whoa, it has been about two and a half weeks three weeks now since my last post about the fun we had with sculptures in Trondheim. In fact, I believe this is the longest break I have taken from the blog in over a year – I was “offline” while I was in South America in spring 2012 because I cracked the screen on my MacBook Air. But nothing bad happened this time around. Indeed, lots of cool things have happened lately (and more are lining up) that I am very excited about and wanted to quickly share with you. Scandinavia […]

Sculpture Fun in Trondheim

Sculpture Fun in Trondheim

After the End of the World party in Oslo, a day wondering around the snow wonderland in Tromso, the 25 hours at the north-most city on the planet, and another brief stop in Tromso, I have arrived to Trondheim – my last one-day stop on this crazy hop-around-Norway-in-six-days trip. But first, a few pics along the way: As I gave up on trying to find a host on couchsurfing (for whatever reason, most people here don’t even respond to requests….) and booked the cheapest hotel I could find (no a single hostel here!), Andreas came through at the last minute […]

Dogsledding with Green Dog Svalbard

Dogsledding with Green Dog Svalbard

Horse riding – check! Camel riding – check! Elephant riding – check! And now, dogsledding – check! When I was planning my trip up to Longyearbyen, I had a hard time figuring out what I could actually do there since I was only visiting for a day. The usual activities involve snowmobiling trips, glacier excursions, mine explorations, and even flights and cruises up to the north pole. Sure, they all sound awesome, but none of them could be done in a day so I was stuck scratching my head. And then I stumbled upon a four hour dogsledding excursions by […]

Case of the Mondays #20: Longyearbyen

Case of the Mondays #20: Longyearbyen

I just got to Stockholm late last night (actually, more like early this morning) so I have not had a chance to check out the beautiful (from what I hear) city yet. Instead, I give you panoramic shot of the inlet and the mountains just north of Longyearbyen. I have about four different panoramas from this point, but I like this one the best with my shadow in it. So put whatever you are doing away for a second, click on the picture to open up  the full version and enjoy this wildly beautiful natural landscape. Hope that helped a […]
