Photo Story #4: The oceans and the Mediterranean

Photo Story #4: The oceans and the Mediterranean

In my Photo Story series, I focus on a particular picture and tell you the story behind it rather than writing about a destination. It has been a hectic day until this point. I woke up early at my hostel in Girona, walked over to the bus station to catch a bus to Empuriabrava. Wondered around if I needed to buy a ticket somewhere since people seemed to be showing something to other bus drivers rather than giving them money – but I didn’t see a ticket office anywhere. Then, a couple hours later, I got off the bus (I could […]

Photo Story #3: Cal Mestre

Photo Story #3: Cal Mestre

In my Photo Story series, I focus on a particular picture and tell you the story behind it rather than writing about a destination. Sure, Cal Mestre Hostal looks beautiful by itself – set among the winding cobblestone streets of Vilallonga de Ter, a small medieval village tucked away deep in the Pyrenees mountains of northern Spain. But getting there and securing ourselves a place to sleep for the night proved anything but ordinary and once again reminded me how comical traveling could be when you don’t know the local language. A year ago, while attending a travel blogger conference in Spain, […]

Europe Beer Run Update #3 – Prague and Going Home

Europe Beer Run Update #3 - Prague and Going Home

This continues my quick updates from the beer run trip to Europe as I posted on Facebook and Instagram while on the road. After checking out Dublin and hitting up Munich for my third Oktoberfest in the row, then stopping in Wurzburg, Frankurt and Marburg I took a quick flight over to Prague. It was my first time in this city (and Czech Republic) and I was looking forward to it as pretty much everyone I know either likes or loves it. Unfortunately, it was raining pretty much non-stop for the day and a half I was there, but I still managed to do some […]

Europe Beer Run Update #2 - Würzburg, Frankfurt, and Marburg

This continues my quick updates from the beer run trip to Europe as I posted on Facebook and Instagram while on the road. After checking out Dublin and hitting up Munich for my third Oktoberfest in the row, I was off to Frankfurt. I have been to Frankfurt two years ago and then again stopped by last December for the Christmas market (and almost flew back in first class) so instead of spending much time in the city, I checked out a few smaller towns nearby. Euro Beer Run, day 4 Bye, bye Munich – hello, Frankfurt! But why spend €80 […]

Europe Beer Run Update

Europe Beer Run Update

A week ago, on a whim, I booked myself a ticket to Europe. In particular, to visit Dublin, Munich, Frankfurt and Prague. As usual, I used my United miles to book the business class ticket across the pond with four stops in Europe for 100,000 miles and under $300. Dublin because I have never been to Ireland and many of my travel blogging friends were in town for another TBEX conference. Munich was the main reason I went – to visit my third Oktoberfest in the row. Frankfurt and Prague were added to see friends and check out a new […]
